Emma's Comments:

There is so much to love about this absolutely heartwarming story. I was so sad when I finished it and just wanted to hug the book and savor all the goodness it has left me before starting a new one.

Helen's first book (Ellie and the Harp Maker) was gorgeous and how she has managed to surpass the emotions and write what I feel is a better one...

Twice now in my book selling career I have said this is a book you need to buy. You need to buy, read, read again and encourage others to buy the actual physical book because you want the author to write more. To be encouraged by book sales and the hardship of author life is worth it.

It is going to take me a bit of time to move on from these characters and this story. It would make THE most delightful movie.

I am now envious of all the people who are still to discover the delight of this book and author. This is a PERFECT book for our current crazy times.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Veronica McCreedy is about to have the journey of a lifetime . . .

Veronica McCreedy lives in a mansion by the sea. She loves a nice cup of Darjeeling tea whilst watching a good wildlife documentary. And she’s never seen without her ruby-red lipstick.

Although these days Veronica is rarely seen by anyone because, at 85, her days are spent mostly at home, alone.

She can be found either collecting litter from the beach (‘people who litter the countryside should be shot’), trying to locate her glasses (‘someone must have moved them’) or shouting instructions to her assistant, Eileen (‘Eileen, door!’).

Veronica doesn’t have family or friends nearby. Not that she knows about, anyway . . . And she has no idea where she’s going to leave her considerable wealth when she dies.

But today . . . today Veronica is going to make a decision that will change all of this.
